UPDATE SEPTEMBER 21, 2000 *
As we are sure most of our community has heard the NYSPHSAA has postponed the fall sports season, including football, and cheerleading until March 1, 2021. Along with the fact that New York State has not set a date in which football games or contact practice will be allowed, the OCYF league has made the difficult decision to cancel the fall 2020 football/cheer season.
At this time, the Hyde Park Presidents and Cheer Leading program has been canceled. There are no practices or clinics scheduled for the foreseeable future. When the league has been given the go ahead for clinics, practices and games, all media channels will be updated.
Please ensure you have provided your most updated contact information to the league so you can be updated on all events.
Please send your contact information or registration question to the following email address: firstname.lastname@example.org
On behalf of the Hyde Park Football and Cheer board, please continue to stay safe and we will see you all in the Spring.
Hyde Park Families,
Please see the latest update from our league.
Based on the recent ruling of the NYSPHSAA to delay the start of High School fall sports until September 21, we are going to delay the start of the OCYFL season until September 21 also.
Our reasoning for this is as follows:
There still has been no ruling by NY State as to whether or not tackle football will be allowed this fall.
With the postponement of the high school season, we feel that such a ruling may be delayed even further.
Without any type of a ruling, we have now idea of what type of safety protocols will need to be put in place if the season is allowed.
Because we follow section 9 rules, our plan is to follow any protocols set by Section 9 and or the NYSPHSAA
If and when established , member leagues will need time to implement these protocols.
At this point we have no idea what type of crowds will be allowed at practices or games.
We also feel it is prudent not to start practice until our players are back in school .
We also have member towns that are reliant on their school fields for both practice and games. These towns will not be able to use these fields until the fall sports season begins.
With a September 21 start date, the season will be as follows:
September 21: Practice may start.
Weekend of October 10 & 11 Scheduled Controlled Scrimmage against 1 other Town . If there are an odd number of teams in a division, one town will be asked to host
a 3 team scrimmage.
Weekends of October 17 through November 21 : Regular season . If there are an even number of teams in a in division, there will be a 6 game
season with no bye week. If there are an odd number of teams in a division there will be a five game season with a bye week.
There will be no playoffs or Super Bowl.
Based upon State and School regulations, Cheefest will be decided upon at a later date.
We have tried to make the best of a tough situation and all of our decisions are based on the information we have now and with the safety of our players and community as our number one concern.
Any further delays by the State or NYPHSAA will most likely result in this season being canceled.
Hyde Park Youth Football and Cheer registration is open. Payment plans are available, please contact us via email if you need to discuss payment options.
The Hyde Park Presidents look forward to working with each family over the upcoming months and ensuring the season remains a fun and exciting experience for each of the players and their families.
The Hyde Park Presidents have continued to monitor communication from both state and local governments regarding the start of our 2020 season. At this time youth football has a tentative start time during phase IV and we are remaining hopeful of a tentative date of August 24.
We are hoping to have further guidance from the state by August 1st. and in anticipation of this date, the 2020 season registration is now open.
With safety as a priority, the league will implement all necessary precautions to ensure your child’s safety.
What you may expect within the upcoming season:
Hyde Park Football will take all required precautionary measures to ensure that we are compliant with all guidelines imposed by the CDC and Local and State requirements.
The board of directors will continue to monitor all safety information and guidances as the health and safety of our players is our main concern.
The Hyde Park Presidents look forward to working with each family over the upcoming months and ensuring the 2020 season remains a fun and exciting experience for each of the players and their families.
If NYS determines youth football will not take place for the fall season, refunds will be provided minus any processing fees and the cost of your child’s jersey.
As a community we are all longing for the return of “normal” days. The COVID-19 crisis has disrupted our lives and the world, in ways that seemed unimaginable just a few short weeks ago. In any other year, The Hyde Park Presidents would be gearing up for fundraisers and fall registration. However, these are not typical days.
We as a league would like to remind our community to practice social distancing, follow the CDC guidelines and practice good hygiene habits such as washing your or using alcohol based hand cleaner.
As a league, the coaches and board members we would like to reach out and encourage our community to stay safe, stay strong and stay kind. It is in times like these when out community bands together and prevails.
As soon as it is appropriate we will continue to communicate dates for fundraising, registration and the start of the season.
In light of ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 threat, the Hyde Park President Football and Cheerleading clinics have been postponed until further notice.
